I went to the doctor today, just my PCP. She is wagering on tendinitis for both the knee and achilles. She prescribed an anti-inflammatory drug that is more effective for soft tissue and told me to keep icing, don't do anything that hurts, and come back in 10 days if the knee isn't showing significant improvement. If I don't show improvement, then an MRI is on the agenda. There's no swelling and I'm feeling no pain if I'm careful, but if I move it the wrong way, oh man, watch out, the pain is harsh and debilitating.
On the up side, driving is no big deal. I slide the seat all the way back and operate the clutch mostly with my ankle and the knee bend is within my range of ability. The big problem is getting in and out of the car. I don't seem to be able to swing my left leg into and out of the car while bent, so that means it has to go in first, which you can imagine is a bit awkward. I put my left leg into the car, lock my knee, then brace my arms against the steering wheel and seat, while I rotate my body and right leg into the car. I've also tried getting in and out by gripping the roof of the car, but my new method seems more controlled and I feel much less like an orangutan.
