My floors were tiled late this summer. The carpet that inhabited my house prior to that was probably the approximate equivalent of a synthetic slime mold. It did not, however, walk off on its own, which would have been a blessing. Instead, I had to cut it in to pieces and drag it, kicking and screaming, out of the house. I was kicking and screaming, that is...and incidentally, fighting my gag reflex all the while. Talk about disgusting.
Now that things are all said and done, the house feels much cozier, brighter, and more spacious. I have almost no allergies, and was able to finally install a wood burning stove. It takes a grand total of about 5 minutes to round up the dust bunnies with a little dust mop. The dog has all but figured out how to stop short of ramming his head into the back door.
My house is finally, finally, after 5 years of living in it, is starting to feel like home. Slowly but surely, it'll continue to make progress with a bit of effort here and there.
